Good handwashing habits are especially important for older adults, whose immune systems may be more vulnerable to infections.
Here are a few simple reminders:
Scrub for 20 seconds using soap and running water
Don't miss a spot! Clean between your fingers, under your nails, and the backs of your hands
Wash at key moments: Before meals, after using the restroom, and after coughing or sneezing
Make it fun! Hum "Happy Birthday" twice while scrubbing!
