Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

  • ½ tsp red food coloring

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp softened butter

  • 2 tbsp cream cheese (softened)

  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tsp milk

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • 2 tbsp milk (warm)

  • 1 tbsp melted butter

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. Mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the warm milk, melted butter, vanilla, and red food coloring, then mix to form a soft dough.

  3. Roll the dough into a small rectangle and spread the softened butter over the dough.

  4. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly. Roll the dough tightly into a log and shape it into one large roll.

  5. Place it in a greased ramekin or small baking dish. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until soft and cooked through.

  6. Whisk the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth, then spoon the cream cheese icing over the warm cinnamon roll.
